Saint Paul Methodist Episcopal Church is one of the oldest Black Methodist Churches in Lauderdale County, Mississippi.

It was organized on the fourth Sunday in February, in 1866, three years after the Emancipation Proclamation and under the leadership of the late Reverend Gilbert Brooks. It was during his administration that the first church, a white wooden frame structure, was erected on 26th Avenue and 12th Street. However, this building was destroyed by fire in 1888.
